Increasing our Awareness

As we the Bucharians, are very unaware of what and who we represent as a group of Jews from Central Asia, id like to encourage awareness of Bucharian communities, Rabbis, organizations, and much more. Alot of the information i will expose on this site about our Bucharian global community at large, will come as a surprise to many of those who are intrigued about our unique culture, yet have no sense of identity. Hopefully, through many various articles, I will be able to reveal the preciousness and uniqueness of our rich and deep Bucharian culture and community around the world. If you are a Bucharian jew, and you would like to share your story, or your community/ organizations story, please write to kemach18@gmail.com. May we connect one to another and become as single entity with a single heart.

Rabbi Yitzchak Hillel

 An Obscure Bucharian Rabbi
Rabbi Hertzel H. Yitzhak, was born in Israel and immigrated to the United States in 1986. He graduated
with honors from Queens College, N.Y.,obtained a doctorate in clinical psychology in Chicago, and received his Rabbinical ordination in Israel. He was also a professor of psychology and Bible at Hebrew Theological College. Rabbi Yitzhak also studied music, art and photography. His art work was on display for several years at Queens College. Rabbi Yitzhak and his wife, Kochava, are blessed with three children:Noam, Nava and Yedidya. He has authored a book named Tzel Heharim- an extensive research on Tzitzit and is highly recommended by HaRav Ovadia Yosef as the best book on tzitzit written so far. He is a good friend of HaRov David Yosef, author of Yalkut Yosef. Currently, he is the Rav of the Sephardi Jewish Community of Chigaco and is a big activist in building the community, along with resevering the post of a Dayan (judge) in the Beit Din (jewish court society.) It is truly amazing that we have in our midst, a Rav of such caliber!

Well..

Alrighty peeps, lets get this straight. I aint pro bucharian. But what i am, is a loyal and proud one who feels that we as an entity must survive in culture and even in our philosophy. It would be ok to remain the way were we are had we integrated more into american culture and other types of jews. Yet, we are special and one, therefore we have a greater chance at making it as a whole and remaining unique if we come together and lend each and other a hand of help and a gesture of friendship. And remember, dont be a self-hating Bucharian. There are alot of you guys out there. If ur not happy with the way we are, but the first one to start a new "niche." Take it easy ya'll and feel free to post your comments.
